Chester

The picturesque borough of Chester is composed of a perfect blend of contemporary and historical esthetic qualities.

Historic Downtown Chester is home to more than 50 distinct retail locations which include jewelers, furniture stores, boutiques and clothing shops. The storefront setting and architecture makes shopping in the borough a memorable experience. The Streets of Chester Shopping Center is also a popular location for satisfying your designer merchandise cravings.

The community also hosts a variety of local restaurants that are sure to please your appetite no matter your preference of cuisine. The Publick House Tavern and Inn offers delicious cuisine within an elegant and rustic setting and is a favorite among the locals in the community. Lodging is also available at the popular tavern and restaurant. 

The Cooper Gristmill established it’s history in Chester during the 1760s. The water-powered mill still operates along Black River and is available for tours from April through October.

Black River Trail welcomes hikers who wish to take an all day excursion, but maintains navigable terrain near the trailhead for casual walkers who wish to enjoy the scenic river.

Local farms and gardens, such as Alstede Farms, round the area also offer a variety of recreational activities for all ages. From journeys through monumental corn mazes, to picking fresh produce in the fields, or enjoying hayrack rides, these local icons provide the perfect blend of entertainment and education.

Chester organizes numerous community events throughout the year such as, car shows, a chili cook-off, Easter egg hunts, craft shows and of course the annual Harvest Festival which takes place in October.
